While all of this is going on, the Conservatives are covering up scandal after scandal in their own party. Not petty who-said-what faux-outrage scandals, but genuine scandals involving multiple child sex offences and documented convictions:

#safeguarding
Who specifically in the Tory party took the decision to promote David Jackson to deputy mayor when he was under investigation for historical child sex crimes and later keep him on as councillor and which of their Chairmen approved each move?

Why would any cabinet minister let alone a Foreign Sec (@Jeremy_Hunt) risk compromise/corruption by drawing a veil over events they attended with a convicted child sex offender who police noted took his victim to some events? Something is very wrong here.
We as a society do a better job at protecting our young people when orgs have #safeguarding measures in place & a firm policy of openly condemning any abuse of privilege or trust.

Tories evidently prefer a cover-up, which sends an unfortunate signal to predators in their party.
We should expect better from any political party, but this a governing party under a failing administration that is busy infighting over Brexit.

What are the odds that when the big party split finally comes, several of them will be 'shocked' to 'discover' all of this?
If your MP is a Tory MP, maybe ask them about this. Politely. Press them on party policy that should be a matter of public record. See if you get anywhere.

So far, I haven't even raised an eyebrow. If this isn't a conspiracy of silence, it's negligence on a grand scale.
If your MP is Jeremy Hunt, maybe ask him this question. He has on other issues denied me answers on grounds that I was a constituent, and on separate occasions also denied answers on grounds that I wasn't, so your mileage may vary, but I say try anyway:
Warning: Criticism of the Conservative Party in any form can lead to false allegations of child rape against you by anonymous accounts in smear campaigns leading back to Tory fundraising executives... who also happen to be local and known to Jeremy Hunt: bit.ly/Lordknows
If you note any sarcasm in my voice about this coincidence, it is down to my awareness of psychological projection. To me, it makes complete sense that a hotspot for repeated false allegations of child rape would also harbour at least one child rapist.
I suspect that all his time, the detailed false allegations of child rape haven't been any truly original work, but instead partly extrapolated from reality, so Tories are telling us about their own monsters. Perhaps their own selves, but obviously I speculate about motive here.
What I can say for certain is: (a) multiple Tories at a mayoral level have been discovered to be child sex offenders and (b) a #safeguarding inquiry is long overdue, but (c) Tories are actively avoiding the subject, obviously worried more about PR than justice or child safety.
On a related note, here is Boris Johnson on a recent rant. He was aware of the Milton scandal back in the day and thought nothing of it, Now here he is rubbishing investment in the investigation of child sex crimes with bafflingly insensitive language:
