I grew up around these people.
I was born and raised in Cupertino, CA - in the heart of Silicon Valley. My parents were the only Republicans in the community.
When I was 10, there was a proposal to build some condos with affordable housing near the highway.

Some neighbors came by the house, with a petition to stop the project.
They said that the housing would be too vulnerable to pollution, that it wouldn't be safe for the residents. Patent bullshit.
My dad took their flyer, and kindly told them to have a nice evening.
