Former HPSCI chair @DevinNunes no longer believes that Chris Steele even wrote most of his dossier*

—It only had his name on it to give it an ex-MI6 credibility

—It was based on similar claims recycled from years ago

—It relied heavily on already public information
*Caveat: that is his personal opinion only, and so far nobody has ever testified to that

As for recycled material: he’s spot on. And not just Glenn Simpson’s claims about Manafort in the WSJ in the mid 2000’s

About a LOT more that hasn’t come out yet, but will soon

—Italy’s Chief of Military Intel & NATO KFOR commander
—A top counterterrorism official from the Rome police force
—A pro Hillary EU politician

Where was this?
INSIDE THE ITALIAN SENATE
Another attendee was a former head of the interior ministry, which in Italy is responsible for their domestic security and intelligence services

Oh and the Vice President of the Senate was there as well

If the FBI's investigation into Trump/Russia was really opened on July 31 2016, why did @Comey say to @GStephanopoulos that "we already had the investigation underway" when Trump gave a *July 27* press conference?
Shouldn't Comey's answer have really been: "Okay, so Trump asked Russia to release Clinton's emails. We thought that was concerning, but we didn't have any reason to investigate him at the time. Then a few days later the @GeorgePapa19 tip came in, and then we did"?
Alternative: it was a slip of the tongue or Comey was remembering incorrectly. But since Comey has never been asked, it's hard to know for sure.

This article is a transparent attempt to threaten or blackmail politicians of both parties into ending the #RussianCollusion investigation by exposing corruption & collusion in DC & London. It seems as though @NYT is transmitting Deripaska's ultimatum, if he goes down, so do they
@NYT is aiding Putin's Oligarch in an effort to escape justice & sanctions for his efforts to rig the #2016Election by threatening to expose a decade of politicians colluding with him before that election. He & his lobbyist Adam Waldman are even pointing fingers at Robert Mueller

Another smart comment by @AshaRangappa_ - as she points out, Trump was told in "late July or August 2016" the Russians would try to penetrate his campaign.

Why then? What prompted that warning?

Well, in July 2016, @CarterWPage took a little trip to Moscow.
The #Steele dossier points out that on his trip to Moscow, Page met with Russian govt officials Sechin and Diveykin. The latter was in charge of hacking foreign elections. That was Diveykin's actual job for @PutinRF. archive.org/stream/TheStee…

1. I know the gentleman who wrote this story, so on top of the obvious significance, I'm happy it's been written by someone whose standards are IMPECCABLE, and I can say so knowing the man. So: TRUMP LIED, of course. His jet landed on Friday and left pre-dawn Sunday. TWO nights!
2. Trump spent 45 hours and 43 minutes in Moscow from landing to take off. Meaning he lied repeatedly and abundantly about his stay there during Miss Universe. Also meaning: sexual kompromat of the stay is likely to exist. (EW).
3. This also means Trump lied TO THE THEN FBI DIRECTOR, in the Oval office, about his stay. He told James Comey that "he arrived in the morning, did events, then showered and dressed for hte pageant. And afterwards, he returned only to get his things to depart immediately."

In a partisan vote led by Chairman @DevinNunes, the HPSI voted to release a four page classified memo that details alleged surveillance abuses by @FBI & @TheJusticeDept.

HPSCI, which along with Senate counterpart (#SSCI), was formed 40 years ago in wake of #ChurchCommittee, #PikeCommittee& #RockefellerCommission, which dealt with a variety of abuses by the Intelligence Community, acted in an unprecedented manner by invoking Rule X, clause 11(f)
(3) That provision actually talks abt preventing disclosure, without consent of each person concerned, of info in possession of HPSCI "that unduly infringes
on the privacy or that violates the constitutional rights of such person."
