Genocides, authoritarian regimes, and other human atrocities don't have a tipping point or inflection point, no one act you can point to and say this is when it flipped, it isn't a binary on/off. It is a slow erosion that builds until it spills over.

Years of hate, dehumanization, perceived victim hood, attacks on an "enemy group" etc.

One of the steps is repeated tests for just how muddied the waters have become and how far those in power can push their followers. Can they get them to give $$? perform violent acts? etc..

Can they get away with locking up children?

Can they get away with tearing down firewalls and institutions that are built to stop their autocratic sprawl?

Can they browbeat and scare the opposition into taciturn silence?

eventually after defeat over defeat can they turn resistance into passive acceptance?

I fear the Trump move against the Special Olympics will be one such test, if we stand by and let them de-fund something so pure, so clean, so unassailable what else can they get away with?

Will we stop them from de-funding welfare for hungry children?

will we stop them from de-funding medical aid for special needs?

What cruelty will be our line in the sand? at what point do we decide the firewalls and backstops have failed?

We are staring right at the point the cruelty and pain speed up, a moment that right now seems like just another action of a schizophrenic regime that will claim the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing and back...

off when push back is too much. But every time the push back succeeds they look for a new play, a new attack, something else to erode beyond recognition until the institutions, the firewalls, the nation it self is FUBAR and we let them slow walk it in

They want to tire us out, get us to simply accept the unacceptable. They know we lack the energy to fight them nonstop but we don't have to, we need to fight them on our terms and with the House we can. But we need to make sure we nip their cruelties as early as we can

Rest when you needed, take breaks to refresh, visit friends, pet dogs, smell flowers, but use those times to build up the energy stores you need to fight. We need to make sure we fight back and push them back across the lines. We need to figure out how to prop up our needed..

institutions and start to build new ones to prevent this from happening again. We risk too much if we don't. Don't wait for a kristallnacht or reichstag fire, don't wait till the level of BS is too high to shovel out of. We need to fight now for what matters and push back..
