I never want to hear another word about “why ordinary Germans didn’t do anything to stop” what was being done to Jews in the 1930s, why there weren’t massive protests against people being rounded up into camps. 1/2
All of us can do something about this. Make a donation to an organization fighting these policies & helping people. Get connected to local orgs in your community & help your immigrant neighbors. At the very least, call/write your representatives weekly to say what you think. 2/3
But don’t let your anger/sadness/overwhelm let you just scroll past without doing something sustainable. And if you’re not sure what that is, ask! I’ll help if I can.

We can all do something. And lots of small somethings add up.

I don't want to hear another word about "responsible Alaska gun culture." Not another damn word. My husband & daughter were in a coffee shop today in Soldotna. Elderly man had out a gun, showing it to his friends under the table, saying it wasn't loaded. Then it went off.
He shot the floor, while sitting no more than 3 feet from my daughter. One of his friends was bleeding from floor shrapnel. Thank all I hold sacred that gun was pointed away from my girl! She ended up with pulverized-floor dust on her computer. My husband couldn't hear.
The man acted like it was no big thing. Baristas called 911. His friends, also elderly, left before the ambulance arrived, taken the wounded woman with them. The man LIED to the police, saying it discharged from his holster. Bullshit. I hope he faces charges.

Backstory - This story was told to me by my adeero who experienced this in May 1972.
The year was 1972 hargeisa and my uncle on my mothers side, who was 17 at the time was working to help import goods from hargeisa to berbera and vice versa. One day there was a shortage of jobs and my uncle was desperately looking for a truck driver.

Björn Höcke marched right through the center of Chemnitz, carrying a white rose and trailed by a passel of Nazis. (For those who don't know, that is vomitous desecration. This is what the White Rose means: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Rose.)
There's something comforting about calling them "neo-Nazis," or "the far-right." It suggests they're not quite as sinister as real Nazis. But both are euphemisms. If you do this in Germany, you know damned well what you are: a Nazi.

Never want to hear another piece about free speech on campus that does not mention how religious universities limit political speech. @JerryFalwellJr was literally reviewing student newspaper pieces on Trump & killed op-eds he disliked.
Here is the difference between @JerryFalwellJr's university & a real university. At a real university, no President would strong-arm students into writing articles that only portrayed the university & the his preferred political candidate positively. world.wng.org/2018/08/papere…
All universities are sensitive to negative stories in student newspapers, and some fall short of the goals of protecting free speech. But in a real university, the Dean of Communications would lose his job for saying this to student journalists.

CBP agents have been systematically torturing unaccompanied child migrants for years. They have run them over with cars, used stun guns, sexually assaulted them, and denied them medical care.

Let me repeat that. These are children. In U.S. custody.

Most of them lawfully presented themselves to border agents. They have committed no crime.

If someone treated dogs this way they would go to prison. These are fucking human beings.
I want answers now.

I want every single CBP agent named in this document fired. I want every one of their supervisors fired. I want people to go to prison.

This is my government. Doing this with my tax money. For years. What the actual fuck.
