Chief Chris appears for the Defendant with his legal team. #OnnoghenAtCCT
Chief Chris, a senior Nigerian lawyer who is leading a team of other senior lawyers to enter defence for the chief justice, began by saying the "after a review of the evidence, the defence has come to the conclusion of closing our case." #OnnoghenAtCCT
Chief Chris also prayed the Court to release the proceedings of April 1 to enable them file their "written address." #OnnoghenAtCCT
The prosecution lawyer, Aliyu Umar, responded by saying his team would require 14 days to file their proceedings. #OnnoghenAtCCT
The tribunal, leaning on the Criminal Justice Act, gives three working days to the Defence to file and submit their written address. After which the Prosecution team has three days to reply. #OnnoghenAtCCT
The Tribunal then gives the Defence another three days to file their final reply on the point of law. #OnnoghenAtCCT
Having entertained all pleas, the tribunal has adjourned the matter till the 15th of April for adoption of written address by both parties. #OnnoghenAtCCT
