1. There are still some pockets out there that think impeachment is not off the table. The reasoning is that the Dems have invested 3 years of effort to craft the narrative and they now have the House so now show trails will continue the narrative as well as the fake media.
2. The argument basically is centered on the fact that the dems went to all this trouble and they won't abandon this battleplan when they are so close just because AG Barr and the Mueller report says no collusion and no obstruction. After all the Mueller report is 400 pages.
3. I'm sure, there is something in those 400 pages that could be used to advance the narrative somewhat. I'm also sure, some dems are planning to push ahead. However, it's over. It's over for a simple reason. They failed. Depending on the poll Trump's approval is about 45-50%
4. Trump has seen an avg increase of 9pts in polls since the Barr letter was released. Nothing the Dems can say or do at this point will take away support from Trump's base. It's over.
5. The economy is booming. Trump is ascending. He is consolidating his power even more. Just this week he fired the DHS leadership. The dems' dreams of impeachment are over. To continue on at this stage would be political suicide.
6. Sure, impeachment only takes a majoroty vote in the House and Pelosi can do that at anytime for anything if she is willing to pay the political price but she is smarter than that.
7. There is no narrative at this time that can give the Dems enough political cover to impeach. It's over. It was over months ago to be honest. Mueller and team continued trying to bait Trump into an action that they could call obstruction but he didn't take the bait.
8. The SC dragged out as long as it could until after the midterms. It did what impact it could. Some say it helped the Dems in the midterms. Maybe. I'm not sure. There were a lot of factors but the win was so razor thin it could have helped just enough.
9. Either way, after the midterms, there was no reason, even with the Dems in control of the House, for it to continue. Trump just wasn't taking the bait and the longer they did nothing the more face they lost. So it was ended.
10. If it helps look at it this way. Before the Battle of Britain the Germans had invested a lot of effort and time to prepare for the invasion of the island. They called their plan Operation Sea Lion. However, it hinged on gaining air superiority.
11. The Germans lost the air battle. At that point Operation Sea Lion was over even though they still had the plans, the aircraft, the ships, the soldiers but it was considered suicide to cross the channel without air superiority. The Battle for Britain was over.
12. The war wasn't over. That would take many more battles and defeats but the Germans never thought of invading again and instead turned to fighting the USSR instead.
13. In the same way, with the SC failing to secure obstruction the battle for impeachment is over. The Dems will now turn to attack other areas like tax returns leaving behind a stronger more powerful Trump heading into the 2020 elections that can now attack them at will.
14. So it's over. IMO impeachment is off the table. What new horror the Dems come up with is anyone's guess but this plan is done. The Dems failed.
