Today I was out campaigning with @LeedsEurope. It was the most hostile environment I have encountered to press. Take a look at this clip, see what has been unleashed. I am refusing to pander to this rubbish. Why ask the question of me 'Were you born here?'

The effrontery of this man, accuisng me of being the racist. Prior to the start of the recording he was asking me if this was still a Christian country and aggressively stating that by 2060 Brits will be a minority in this country. By the end of the clip we were 'communist scum'

Labels and 'othering' have become the norm, this is not the first time I have been asked if I was borrn here, and as I said in the clip, what did that have to do with anything? As to my being the racist, I was the only one who was asked this question.

I legitimately challenged that and was accused of labelling him a racist. This group were carrying a flag and wearing t shirts stating 'Lest we forget' they crowded round us preventing us from engaging with other members of the public who wanted to speak to us.

As this group moved on, and they did return many times to walk past us chanting loudly 'we want our country back' , another woman walked past and shouted 'bring out the boats and send them all back' !

I won't be cowered, I will campaign with renewed vigour as frankly I want MY country back, I want to reclaim the country we are with the values we cherish, bigotry, xenophobia, racism and little Englander isolationism has no place in MY country.
