Someone is using my name in comments below the line in @thetimes. It's not me, and I've made a formal request that they be taken down. It raises interesting questions about due diligence in comment threads. With many thanks to @jameswoudhuysen for pointing it out.

I have asked @thetimes to take urgent action and remove the account impersonating me on its comment threads. No response so far. The misrepresentation continues, with potentially damaging consequences.

Still no response from @thetimes to my complaint about the person writing in my name on its comment threads. The comments are still there. There are 13 Monbiots on the planet, and only one of them is called George.

To make matters worse, I've been directed to a website that estimates my net worth as $20m. Wow! I've just had my house valued at £320,000. I have £10,400 in a building society, and no other property or investments. Why do people do this?
