@Ameen_HGA Wow, thanks for your kind words and I'd welcome dialogue on any of my work! Regarding politics, I've intentionally been almost entirely silent because I don't want people to be distracted. My main disagreement with critical theory is not political, but theological. 1/
@Ameen_HGA I agree that conservatives and libertarians will be naturally inclined to overlook systemic injustices, just as progressives will be naturally included to overstate them. That's exactly why we need healthy dialogue so that we can challenge one another's blind spots! 2/
@Ameen_HGA For Christians, one healthy tip might be to focus on specific policies rather than abstract principles. I was struck by this when reading Eric Mason's recommendations in Woke Church. When he was describing the ministries of his church to the community, I thought: 3/
@Ameen_HGA "Wow, these are great and non-partisan. I can't imagine any Christian objecting to them." Similarly, rather than demanding that other Christians sign on to a particular view of "mass incarceration", why not just say: 4/
@Ameen_HGA "Hey, bail policies seem unjust. Let's talk about that"? It was interesting that Voddie Baucham specifically mentioned over-incarceration at his G3 talk and no one seemed to bat an eye. 5/
@Ameen_HGA I suspect that when if frame specific issues in non-ideological terms, we'd find a lot of agreement or would at least be able to reach some common ground. Anyway, my 2-cents! I mainly want Christians to be able to talk to one another charitably... 6/
@Ameen_HGA without impugning one another's motives. The best way for us to sort out truth from error is to engage with one another's arguments charitably on the basis of Scripture. If we retreat to echo chambers, it's much harder to correct our false views. 7/7
