Why the link to the NRA? Because like Putin and Kim, Trump and Bolton seems obsessed with showing how "tough" America is. Iran, Libya etc are simply punching bags for their short-dicked visions of America. It will be young men in those fly over states who will fight these wars.

Although the U.S. plans for conflict with all major aggressors, Iran is a threat to Israel and the tiny family Sunni dictatorships around. Iran has attacked US interests when we entered the middle East through Lebanon, Iraq and Afghanistan. But never overtly, always though proxy.
While we use false demagoguery and incompetent proxies like Saudi Arabia and UAE, Iran uses all resources to undermine efforts to control or attack the Shia landscape. Including the use of our allies and enemies to undermine our efforts. Israel would fall first followed by KSA.
It is important to note that Israel with the help of the U.S. would "win" any initial war but as we saw with Gaza this weekend and with years in Iraq and Afghanistan, "win" no longer exists in population centric warfare. it would be the longest and costliest war in U.S. history.
A war with Iran would also shift the power structures with China and Russia realizing that America's limited troop forces, limited focus and very expensive way of waging war would open possibilities in Latin America, Africa and South/South East Asia. Something we are seeing now.
Embroiled in a global war, Iran, China and Russia could significantly degrade America's global position in trade and traffic and how the world perceives us. As we have learned from Lebanon to Afghanistan, there is no "win" anymore only which level of pain we want.
Counter terror efforts would explode as violent, anti US groups would metastasize both inside and outside the U.S. many for seemingly unrelated causes. Many targeted via social media. Those same angry "excitables" targeted and energized to conduct Maoist nihilism free from logic.

The trick to manipulation is to polarize the populations against an perceived aggressor so that violence or deception on their part seems obvious and justifies a violent attack. Just like bin Laden suckered us into attacking Afghanistan to repeat the Russian disaster.
