Let's get one thing clear about the upcoming European elections: if you claim there is a single party that's magically the correct answer to "Who should get my pro-Remain vote?" across every electoral area, you're wrong, and you're playing politics. Brexit's too serious for that.
Reality is that some parties are better placed to get an MEP in some areas, and other parties are better placed to do so in other areas. So you should keep watching the polls to get the best possible picture of where to deploy your vote for maximum effect.
Above all, keep this list in mind...

Pro-Remain
LibDems, Greens, Change UK TIG, SNP, Plaid Cymru, Sinn Fein, SDLP, Alliance

(Other pro-remain minor parties and independents exist, but they're never realistically going to win MEPs.)

Pro-Brexit
Tories, Labour, Brexit Party, UKIP
And remember, it doesn't matter what an individual MEP is campaigning on if their position is diametrically at odds with that of their party (as is the case, notably, for several prominent Labour candidates).
Here's a *preliminary* analysis of where strategic votes could best be deployed. It's based on recent (late April 2019) polling overlaid on the 2014 voting numbers. Of course things will change between now and polling day, but it gives an idea at least.

A look at the d'Hondt voting system, and how the Brexit party more winning votes could be good for pro-Remain parties.

You'd think we need to stop Nigel Farage's party at all costs. But the way D'Hondt works to distribute MEPs in a region, getting a few more votes doesn't help.
Fictional example (assumes 3 parties are in the race for MEP seats to keep it simple). 2 MEPs up for grabs in the region.

In the first scenario, the Brexit Party tops the region with 120,000 votes and gets an MEP. The Tories have 2nd largest vote and get the other.
In the second scenario, the Brexit Party grabs votes away from the Tories (same total vote). So they're top by an even wider margin. But that doesn't really matter that much. Look at what happens to the vote. Suddenly, the LibDems are ahead of the Tories and grab the second MEP.

Things that should be unacceptable in hotels in 2019...
- A single power socket far from the bed (or worse yet, none at all, so that you have to unplug the kettle, TV etc.)
- Patchy wifi (if you're going to claim to offer it, it has to reach *all* rooms adequately)
What else?

(I should note that it amazes me that many hotels don't seem to have ever "tested" their rooms. If I were a hotel manager, I'd randomly book myself into different rooms every few nights and record & FIX every problem.)
Oh, and I forgot my most pet peeve of all (how could I?) which seems to be particularly a problem in the UK: beds that are too short. Spring for a proper decent Continental sized bedframe and mattress, please, not a jokey six foot or whatever it is that many hotels land on.

Children in Victorian poverty in our schools: @Channel4News this evening.

My dad died when I was small. Subsequently, I had two episodes of homelessness as a child (early 1960s). I stole food to feed my Mum and me.

When I became a teacher in inner London, I still saw poverty...
But it seemed *comparatively* unusual, resulting from particular circumstances (like my experiences).

What's become clear in the last 5 years is that it's no longer unusual, it's no longer temporary, it's no longer linked to illness or 'inadequacy'. Now it's a feature of life.
In part I blame myself. By the late 1980s, as I watched families with children at my school find it harder and harder to cope, it was becoming clear that Tory policies were creating a poverty time bomb; but I was in a sort of denial, as I tried to keep my own head above water.

The witch's frustration was the most amusing part of Jeongguk's day, "What sort of food?"

One thing I notice in the GRA debate is the claim that the Stonewall demands will 'erase the definition of being a woman', and this will put women at risk of men. This argument relies on the assumption that transwomen are still men and not women, which is also a form of erasure.
And whilst there's no denying that the vast majority of violence against women is committed by men, it also absents violence between women and women using men as agents to commit violence against other women. This then draws us into the issue of sex-based objectification ...
... where in our society women are treated as sexual objects whose power primarily lies in their use of sexual appeal, and men are status objects who dominate power in realms of economy, politics, income, &, on average, physicality. It also involves the prevalence of violence ...

@AstorAaron @TheAtlantic @davidfrum That may feel good. In reality, the problem is US. It's apathy. We complain or sit out because we don't get our way. Congress is elected by US. If voter participation is < 50%, we deserve the congress we get. Unless we take power with 60-70% participation, it stays as is #vote.

1. Only have elections every two years
2. This includes all local ones too - city council, school board, etc
3. Make sure that local elections are in the same years as national ones
4. Then get out and vote every 2 years - no excuses!

1. 2020, we need to control the states that will give us the majority of the electoral votes
2. This means we need to win governorships and state legislatures
3. So we can determine redistricting
4. Be inclusive/aware of demographic trends for redistricting.
