The Cubs, like the world, have gone insane. In order of familiarity, the “ok” hand signal means:

1. A century old signal that everything is fine.
2. That you just hit a three.
3. That your playing the circle game.
4. Or yes, potentially that you’re a racist who is flashing a white power symbol.

What are the odds that No. 4 was what the Cubs fan was doing? Most people don’t even realize that No. 4 is a thing.
I spoke to the Cubs. There is very little, if any, other evidence that this guy was flashing a white power symbol. No background, no social media posts, nothing.

They also haven’t spoken to him and told me that they have no interest in hearing his side.
It’s possible he was flashing a racist hand sign. But I don’t think it’s probable and there is very little evidence to support that conclusion.
Finally, we’re headed down a very dark path where justice is assuming the worst of each other, suspending common sense, and showing no interest in getting it right.
One more thing. I’m very well aware that the idea this was a racist symbol was started as a hoax in 4chan to make the media - and the Cubs I guess - take the bait. But some real white supremacists have adopted it.
But for it to mean WP doesn’t it have to be held fingers up? So it makes a W? Down would be an M, right?

And down would be, oh I don’t know, the overwhelmingly common way to play the circle game.
