No, it’s just wrong.

There is no such thing as “being an atheist to X.”

Being an atheist means rejecting ALL gods and God. It is a zero. A nullity. A nothing.
If you are just going to misuse the term, then you have no right to complain when theists start pointing out that atheism is a religion, because you a “religious to X,” i.e. you hold certain beliefs or ideals to be “sacred,” which of course, means “set apart.”
Now it is TRUE that there is a pagan—primarily Roman—use of the term “atheism” which was applied to Jews and Christians.

If by “atheist” one means “one who does not believe in the gods, but only God,” then sure, almost everyone is an atheist: Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike.
And I’m sure there are many Hindus who have no use for mere “gods” but worry about the foundational things of reality.
