Warriors: 2nd
Celtics: 6th
Blazers: 9th

Nuggets: 20th
Bucks: 27th
Rockets: 30th
How the 8 teams in the conference semifinals ranked in midrange *shooting percentage*, during the regular season:

Warriors: 1st
Blazers: 2nd
Raptors: 3rd
Rockets: 5th
Celtics: 6th
Nuggets: 7th
76ers: 15th
Bucks: 23rd
So this season's successful teams are all over the place in terms of how much they incorporate the midrange game. They do tend to have the ability to hit those shots at a relatively efficient rate when needed, however.

I don't think people realize how good the Raptors' starting 5 is (Lowry-Green-Leonard-Siakam-Gasol). They were very good in the regular season, but didn't play together much. Now they're +12.1 points per 100 possessions in the playoffs in a lot of minutes against tough opponents.
I'm less confident it's handling the Warriors correctly, though. I don't buy the "Warriors better without KD" narrative, they pretty clearly aren't IMO, but the Curry-led Warriors are still a really good team.

Polls in the UK European parliamentary elections significantly underestimated support for the Liberal Democrats and the Greens, two pro-Remain parties. They slightly overestimated support for the Brexit Party.
Polls also substantially overestimated support for the two traditional parties, Labour and the Conservatives.
Despite the conventional wisdom to the contrary, there is *not* any systematic tendency for nationalist or right-wing parties to overperform their polls in European elections. They underperform them as often as they overperform them. fivethirtyeight.com/features/le-pe…

Been trying to get from Downtown Indianapolis to the speedway and traffic problems undoubtedly made worse by GPS apps routing people onto closed streets (e.g. 10th St.)

(This tweet is both a humblebrag and a parable for the limitations of AI.)
Navigation apps are also really dumb about insisting on getting you to an *exact* destination rather than an *approximate* destination from which you can walk and often save quite a bit of time. This is also an issue with e.g. one-way streets in Manhattan.
Pretty sweet race though.

The use of a 20-second pitch clock for spring training games is going to be announced today, league sources tell ESPN, and the rule will include ball-or-strike penalties for violations after an easing-in period early in the spring.
Some important details:

- Clock is not used on the first pitch of PA
- Pitcher needs to begin his motion -- not release the pitch -- before the clock expires
- Batter must be in the box with five seconds left on the timer
- Clock starts when pitcher gets ball from catcher
The implementation of a pitch clock during the regular season this year is a very real possibility, sources tell ESPN. While the league can do so unilaterally, it continues to negotiate with the players, many of whom fundamentally oppose the idea of the clock.

I've gotten a few questions about the "split decision" narrative, and whether it should change if Ds pull out wins in FL-Sen and AZ-Sen (good chance in both!). This gets to one of my biggest pet peeves about elections analysis and sports analysis. 1/
(This is a pet peeve of @NateSilver538 as well). So I'll start with a sports story: The 2014-15 Kentucky Basketball team (sorry @mghancock). It roared undefeated through the regular season and was pronounced a juggernaut for the postseason. 2/
The thing was, if you looked underneath the hood, things didn't look as impressive. They beat Columbia by 10 points. They beat Ole Miss by 3 in overtime. TAMU by 6 in double overtime. Vanderbilt by 8. FL by 7. LSU by 2. GA by 8. 3/
