Wassup plebs?? That was 1helluva week! We had hack of one of the largest bitcoin exchanges and a pretty juicy bitcoin decoupling in the same week! And holy fuck! Looks like it’s #BitcoinMonday again!!! 📈📈🤩
Issue #4
Gonna be a longer one, because
2/
Let’s start with the big news!
Apparently hacker stole 7000 BTC from Binance’s hot wallet. But the most intersting thing happened after that. Core dev @JeremyRubin made a little thought experiment suggesting @cz_binance could do a reorg to restore btc:
3/
What came next was an intense reorg discussion and many interesting pieces about the topic. First check out this reply by @brian_trollz to the original post suggesting the reorg that tackles with why this was such a bad idea...
4/
Also check out these two cool tweetstorms! First one is from @udiWertheimer and it talks about why reorg would actually be bad for Binance, not Bitcoin. Remember honey badger don't give a fucc! 🦡
5/
The second one is from @jimmysong and it explains why reorg makes absolutely no sense from economical perspective!

This one actually went rogue and turned into cool Medium post that perfectly summarizes the whole hack situation:
6/
And of course don't miss this amazing answer talking about rollbacks by @pwuille. It thoroughly explains technical ins and outs of the rollback scenario. A must read 🔥🔥🔥
7/
Next up we had a major BIP proposal by @pwuille regarding Taproot, Schnorr and other cool stuff coming to bitcoin! This one is BIG
lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/bitc…
This nice little thread summarizes what is discussed for the soft fork:
8/
If you don't know what all this means for Bitcoin, make sure you check out this Schnorr youtube playlist by @HillebrandMax. There is so much valuable knowledge about the topic in here!!
9/
And of course you don't wanna miss Andrew Poelstra's new appearance on @NodedPodcast where he discusses all the improvements we mentioned and also his latest work on Miniscript, which is a completely new way of writing bitcoin scripts.
10/
All these stuff coming to bitcoin will enable more powerful smart contracts which would as a result shift all those fancy blockchains into oblivion. @jimmysong writes an excellent article that answers the question of 'Why blockchain is not the answer?'
11/
💧Moving on 💧
Another answer to the question above is that there is active work on bringing the concept of tokens to Bitcoin via @Blockstream's #LiquidNetwork as 14 new members joined last week! Also they work on bringing USDT and USDS liquid tokens!
12/
More cool news from @Blockstream is that you can now run a full node on a spare android!

Also, Blockstream goes full cypherpunk mode enabling tx and API data to be shared over a mesh net. FUCK!! 🤯

Let's see what cool content was produced last week!
First off I found this thread by @matt_odell about ASICs pretty interesting. It basically explains why ASICs are vital to Bitcoin network and should be treated like friends 🤜🤛
15/
Also, you can listen to Matt's new appearance on @stephanlivera's podcast where they discuss onboarding bitcoin noobs. A very important topic in these dark ages of shitcoin mania :
16/
If you are yourself helping the space onboard the newbies, you might find these slides from @_ConnerBrown_'s presentation pretty useful!
17/
Also from Conner, we have this excellent piece about intrinsic value and why bitcoin doesn't need one. A classic!
18/
⚡️Moving to the Lightning stuff ⚡️
You should definitely check out this piece by @pierre_rochard about building cool stuff on LN. He also talks about some use cases of a lightning app! Learning to build is easily the best investment you could make :))
19/
If that doesn't convince you building stuff on back of the Lightning is cool, these new developments definitely will!
First, we had this Channel Optimizer tool by @dariusparvin which recommends you LN nodes to connect to! Good job man!
20/
Another week, another script from @alexbosworth. This time it's a LN script that adds some cool new functionality to the autopilot, LND's new feature. Nice!
21/
In Bitcoin there has been a long lasting debate about developer incentives and the problem of paying open source contributors. This Bolthaton project called @tiphub_io is exactly about that. You can now tip your favorite devs! Non-custodially!
22/
Since we are talking about lightning tips, did you know that you can test the new @tippin_me feature and connect LND node to your account? If not, check it out!
23/
Finally, I left this little fella as a cherry on the cake! The article by @lopp everybody has been waiting for is out! This research is so thorough, you might end up knowing more about CSW than his mother. You don't wanna miss this one 🕵️‍♂️🕵️‍♀️😂
24/
That's all for today guys! Hope you enjoyed cuz I sure did! Enjoy the rest of your week and see you all on Monday!

Don't stop stackin sats!! :D
