I know the "death recorded" thing is bad, but I think it's even more inexcusable that she doesn't seem to care that examples she sites were about sex with young boys.
"Struggle to tell the truth about love" what??
"... offenses by what we would call gay men ..."
This feels a lot to me like someone from outside of a community not knowing the history and context well enough to understand that gay men in particular fight so hard to not be lumped in with pedophiles by right-wing people who insist they are not safe to have around kids.
(whoops I mean "cites".)

[Thread] This isn't a callout at a particular person, but I'm feeling at a loss. I was talking to a dude friend of mine about that Incels + Plastic Surgery article, and I asked him what he thought he could do -- working with other men -- to change the culture that creates Incels.
And he was just like so bewildered that I thought he might even consider being part of the solution on this. He felt it was the role of teachers and therapists and counsellors etc etc etc. Which, of course those people have a role, but there aren't enough of them to fix this.
He asked me what sort of thing I thought he should be doing, a question I found really frustrating. I replied "I don't know. Work together to think of what to do. I don't mean in a professional sense just like all the ways women have always had to work together informally ...

Public service announcement from a non-drinker: if you're at an event with a limited amount of non-alcoholic cocktails, please don't take one to mix with your alcoholic drink? It burns through the products and a non-drinker will end up with fewer choices (also it's kind of rude).
It's so appalling to me when people do not fucking understand that this is an issue of accessibility and diversity.
People are missing the fact that I said "non-alcoholic cocktails". I am not talking about soda or whatever. I am saying they were taking our drinks (pictured below) and pouring them into their wine.

The Relevance of Science Education (ROSE) project has tracked cross-cultural attitudes towards science education of 15-year-old students. It's not cited enough.

I will highlight where the largest sex differences lie. (1/n)
(2/n) Before that, there is a large trend to keep in mind.

As countries develop, people get higher standards and are more selective in their interests.

This is true for sex differences as well. On average, the more developed the country, the larger the sex difference.
(3/n) Boys are somewhat more interested in chemicals, their properties, and how they react.

Things that surprised/amazed me about Japan, an ongoing thread.

1. A very friendly immigration officer and I laughed together, and when I said “I don’t really know where I’ll be staying,” he actually applauded it.
2. Very nice and clean train from the airport, with power sockets, and vending machines onboard.

Tons of solar panels passed by on the way.
