So far I have studied the subject,I find the sources of @TrueIndologyliv impeccable; though I do not agree with many of his conclusions on Raja Rammohun Roy. I consider the Raja to be a true reformer and as the person who took the lead in abolition of Sutee.That said, I denounce
all personal attacks on @TrueIndologyliv I shall try to say why I differ with him.
First,that he was a true reformer is borne out by the virulent attacks he had to face from the Brahmins of Bengal. Here is a specimen:

A rhyme ran like this:

by belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ but not in his divinity. Many Hindus believing in the universality of God (such as believers in the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda traditions) would have little difficulty in subscribing to this.
In fact Unitarianism is not considered a single creed but as a clutch of beliefs.

That rhyme also shows RMR’s faith in the teachings of Upanishad. In fact by founding the Brahmo Samaj he provided an alternative to Christianity to youths who had developed a dislike for orthodox Sanatani beliefs. As a result those youths stayed in the Hindu fold
