"Godzilla: king of monsters" was beautifully made, the actors were great, very entertaining, but.... can people stop fetishizing Asian people. "The Meg" & now this movie have a wise Asian male, with a young female sidekick, talk like fortune cookies, have no real story

Besides their obsession with these creatures, & ultimately sacrifice themselves. These are supposedly scientists, not monks, I'd brush it off if they were monks or philosophy professors. It's hard enough to see Asian folks in roles, why do we have 2 so similar so soon?

This also leads into, why is a movie originally based in Japan needing white American leads? Why can't we have a Japanese family with a wise (insert other group) instead? Why does Matt Damon have to show up to save the day in that "Great Wall" dragon movie?

And can we talk about the #privilege of the mom character in "Godzilla: KOM"? She's willing to sacrifice everyone in the world & start anew..... from the safety of her bunker. Watch the movie, tell me it isn't the definition of privilege.

Though it had its issues, "Godzilla: KOA" was thouroughly entertaining & frustrating. Never have i wanted to yell at a screen more. And i clapped when the mom character was called "bitch" so hard & when someone directly pointed out her shitty parenting.

In that & in many other aspects, the movie seems to be very self-aware of what its doing. Like when they reference getting a speech from a "very long fortune cookie."

Can I add, movies have got to get better with villains. We understand the motivations of the mom character (kinda. She lost her mind in grief?), but just calling someone an eco-terrorist.... is lame & lazy, in my opinion. I fail to grasp what the old dude's reason(s)

for killing the human race..... & then hiding in a bunker. Like..... I though you said the human race couldn't be fixed? Why are you & a bunch of fertile, mixed gender, eco-mercenaries hiding away & not meeting your doom with everyone else?

Sooo many questions, but seeing as the mom dies.... would her daughter be held accountable in part for the deaths of thousands if not millions? & the destruction of property, etc? She is old enough to know better & knew the plan was for the monsters kill a bunch of people

I hope so, that whole family needed to get throat punched.
