Like the network, Angela felt that the show had fallen into a rut from a storytelling perspective, and welcomed the changes. She particularly liked that I wrote her as a writer first and foremost. Meaning that in most previous episodes, her work as a writer was only there --
-- in order to get her invited to a gala or a ball or an event where a murder was to take place. In my episodes, she didn't fall asleep from a long night out, she fell asleep at the keyboard (and I think Jessica actually literally did this in one ep), and was always either --
-- talking about writing, or trying to improve her work, or battling it out with editors. Angela *loved* that. And though no show is ever easy, coming into M,SW was fairly painless because by the time we got there it was a well oiled machine. Which of course was the good --
-- and the bad of it. A well-oiled machine does what it's expected to do, and our task was to do a bit of the unexpected, which sometimes meant throwing sand into the machine. But in the end, it was a great experience.
And Angela was terrific to work with, as well as her husband Peter Shaw.
