I understand academics who struggle to write for the web.

It's unfair to spend 20 years asking people to 'expand' in academic writing, then expect them to write for the Buzzfeed generation

They've enough work already. Unis need to accept this is a skill and hire people to do it
The sheer variety of stuff academic staff are expected to do is insane.

It is bad for their mental health, leads to crap content and ALSO creates a culture where academic staff are encouraged to believe they ARE experts at everything.

Uni's need to let them be bad at something
So much of the friction that often exists between professional and academic staff comes back to this.

We're hired to be good at one thing, and get annoyed at 'amateurs' trying to tell us how to do it

But culturally that's what they're ENCOURAGED to do. It's insane and unhealthy
