It appears we've come to the part of the cycle where folks wrongly accuse a brilliant bit of filmmaking by @ava of being "so full of distortions and falsehoods as to be an outright fabrication." (Fairstein's words. Spoiler: Nope.)

Let's review how that went last time with Selma.

Finding myself wondering if the reaction to ROMA would be the same had it been directed by Alejandra Cuaron.

It would deserve it, but would it?
For the record, I am almost certain the answer is no, and that realization deeply disturbs me.
That shouldn’t take anything away from Cuaron or his film. It is - as many have said - a masterpiece. And it presents its characters with the love, affection, and humanity you’d expect given his relationship with them.

This is the fundamental genius of Putin’s entire enterprise: Unwinding his now considerable influence over the American government requires Americans - and the political right in particular - to admit that they got beat, and taking the L is almost constitutionally unamerican.
And it is PARTICULARLY difficult for the right, much of whose political identity is founded on the idea of America as a perfect nation.
Those of us who know America’s imperfect history and have had to fight to participate in its full promise are far more dispositionally willing to acknowledge a national L when it happens and make changes so that it doesn’t happen again.

Videos when Chavez recently became president in #Venezuela.
With this you can understand how everything started (very similar to Chile 73).

Part 1: The humble began to participate in politics, some for the first time went to vote, they were taught to read the constitution
Part 2: Seeing all the reforms that Chavez was doing to improve the situation of the most humble ppl, the upper class Venezuelans come together to fight against him.
Right-wing Latino always accuse those who propose reforms of this style of being communists & always talk about 🇨🇺
Part 3: Since Chávez had the support of the majority (humble/poor), he planned to take control of the Venezuelan OIL to redistribute profits among the entire population.
This infuriated the local elite and the US elite, began the war against him. The TV called him "Hitler". WTF!

Additionally, Foreign Minister Freeland, Innovation Minister Bains, Employment/Labour Minister Hajdu, announced they would initiate emergency program to use Canadian taxes
3) compensate workers, expand unemployment benefits, SUBSIDIZE impacted industry. Yes, in a transparent display of political ideology (THROWING CAPITALISM directly OUT the window), Canada doubles-down on CENTRALIZED government subsidies to offset market impacts. #Brilliant ‘eh!

Being able to continuously make judgement calls on a business level (e.g. “what’s good enough”) _while_ coding and designing is a tremendous advantage of being a solo founder. Big teams can’t compete with that.
To be fair big teams can compete on a lot of other things. But there are more and more opportunities where being a solo maker is a huge advantage over having a team.
P.S.
Couldn’t come up with a better term than “solo maker” right now, but it’s not a perfect description. You still tend to work with with other people in some form of fashion. (e.g. peer-to-peer feedback in @wipchat, leveraging other people’s open source work, etc)
