Being able to continuously make judgement calls on a business level (e.g. “what’s good enough”) _while_ coding and designing is a tremendous advantage of being a solo founder. Big teams can’t compete with that.
To be fair big teams can compete on a lot of other things. But there are more and more opportunities where being a solo maker is a huge advantage over having a team.
P.S.
Couldn’t come up with a better term than “solo maker” right now, but it’s not a perfect description. You still tend to work with with other people in some form of fashion. (e.g. peer-to-peer feedback in @wipchat, leveraging other people’s open source work, etc)
