The salary for members of Congress is less than a 26-year-old first-year lawyer gets at a top corporate law firm. The differential is starker at a state level. Politicians have seen pay stagnation along with teachers, social workers, journalists, and most American workers...

This is a good thread. Trump is setting up the 2020 campaign to be all about China. The New Dem messaging of 'tariffs are hurting our economy' is downright dangerous. Tariffs are the only reasonable posture right now, and Dems better find a way to talk about China.
Such an important point. We are under attack.
The U.S. is under attack by the CCP, it's just not a military attack yet. But it will be unless we set up a different framework. We stop a war with China NOW by pulling away the incentives for a war by reorienting peaceful trading arrangements. That's what tariffs are.

I'm hearing a lot of people saying things like 'just breaking up Facebook won't solve the blah blah blah.' Yes, we know. Read more than a headline. Break up and regulate. Let's have multiple car companies. Let's also have seatbelt mandates. Break up and regulate.
The point of anti-monopoly policy is to shape markets to make us free. It isn't to break up companies. It isn't to deal with 'bad people.' It's to ensure that no one can concentrate power in ways that prevent individual liberty. That means public structuring of markets.
Saying 'just breaking up Facebook won't solve the problem' doesn't reflect being clever. It reflects profound ignorance about history and policy. Virtually no one has ever suggested just breaking up companies. We've been doing anti-monopolism for hundreds of years.

China presents such a big disconnect. A large chunk of the national security/trade world sees China as an expansionist power akin to Nazi Germany. Many coastal Dems by contrast see a peaceful trading partner.
China hawks, which includes a lot of lefties who have experience with China, sound like Trump types. But they are not. They just are aware of the threat. It’s a very strange dynamic.
Coastal Dems also have a strange conspiracy theory mindset. They believe automation is truly what bled jobs, but tens of thousands of Americans have personal experience training their foreign (often Chinese) replacements.

One Punch Man is an anime about a guy who never gets a free latte or sandwich or yogurt because he can never keep track of his cards. He's got a whole shoebox full of reward cards he found doing his laundry, all of them with just a single punch. He never puts them in his wallet.
Incidentally, "How to make One Punch Man" is a small but powerful school of theorycraft on D&D boards. In the sense that a lot of people want to play as One Punch Man.
On the surface, D&D is not a great system for this, as the idea behind the system's combat system is one of relative mechanical balance where all characters in a fight are *very roughly* equally useful each round over the course of about three combat rounds.
