@TheIFS Reductions in the amounts of working-age benefits pushed down the incomes of poorer households in 2017–18. I have not heard of any Tory leadership candidate credibly explaining what they will do about this which was of all their doing. /3
@TheIFS Absolute poverty was at 19% in 2017–18. Again, no credible plan has been presented by any Tory leadership candidate on this. Instead Boris Johnson, the likely winner, proposes to give the top 3% of earners in the UK a tax cut. /4
