The real issue is that we have a desperate problem with the potential for foreign interference in 2020. I'd like to see bipartisan action on the House Judiciary Committee (and in the Senate!) to deal with a problem that both sides acknowledged at yesterday's hearing is serious.
I'm afraid yesterday's hearing, considering the issue of foreign interference in the context of the Mueller report, shed more heat than light. Behind closed doors, both sides need to be working against 2020 foreign interference. Last time it helped Trump but next time who knows?

When I look at these stats from @SCOTUSBlog, it seems just about certain that Chief Roberts will write in the partisan gerrymandering cases. (I've said earlier I expect Alito to have the census case)

1. We were told that instead of impeachment we were going to get an aggressive investigation of Trump's crimes

But it's been 7 WEEKS since the Mueller Report was released and the first Judiciary Committee hearing was today

And it was pointless
2. An investigation is supposed to be about uncovering facts.

Today's hearing was just a bunch of lawyers. Some of the lawyers said Trump probably obstructed justice. Another said that he didn't.

We learned absolutely nothing new.
3. What is happening?

Pelosi and the Democratic House leadership think impeachment is a political mistake. But it's a bad look to ignore crimes.

So what we are getting now is a bit of a dog and pony show. The point is to burn time until 2020.

NEW: DOJ confirms AG Barr will not show up tomorrow for a hearing before the House Judiciary Comm.

"Congress and the Executive branch are co-equal branches of government, and each have a constitutional obligation to respect and accommodate one another’s legitimate interests."
DOJ objected to the committee's plan to have staff attorneys question the AG in addition to members.

DOJ spox: "Chairman Nadler placed conditions on the House Judiciary Committee hearing that are unprecedented and unnecessary. "

😱A NIGHTMARE SCENARIO: The Mueller Investigation is a cover up scam, to sacrifice a few scapegoats to pacify the plebes, defuse a social explosion, to whitewash Trump and the GOP... using as a pretext for secrecy the DOJ rules, executive privilege, and top secret classification.
I KNOW PERFECTLY WELL THIS IS A CONSPIRACY THEORY, and I do not believe it... YET. But that is exactly what people will deduce if justice is denied, Trump & associates get immunity and impunity, or we get anything less than 100% fully & detailed transparency we can believe.
Without full disclosure, the longer it takes, the more obstacles in its way, the less credible it becomes. Anyone who can predict what a cover up of this magnitude will do to America, let me know! Trump is clearly guilty & absent being proven innocent beyond a shadow of a doubt.
