A classmate asked me proudly why I waste time on the failed and lost past. It is only the future that we can conquer.
My reply- To say the past has no relevance to the future is equivalent to saying the diagnosis has no bearing on the prognosis.

A medical view of history-
From Rig Vedic times till the 12th century is Physiology. A healthy, thriving civilization.
Then till 1947 is historical Pathology. How an advanced nation reduced to utter ruin.
Thence till now, Pharmacology. One drug after another we seek a cure.

But we don't know the disease plaguing us. Not really. So we cannot be cured. And until we look truthfully at our past, arrive at a diagnosis and fix the gaping holes in our history, we wont either.
