There should be a term for meeting someone you know from the internet in a physical location in person for the first time even though you’ve already been friends for ages because “meeting” is not really adequate.
Please everyone stop suggesting “meating.” It was of course the obvious choice but... google it.
Anyway my internet friends are delightful and it is always an immense pleasure to finally interact with them on this corporeal plane 🤗

The expansion of the Universe is one of the hardest things to explain because of two features that appear to be true but are extremely difficult to conceptualize:
1) it started from everywhere (no origin point)
2) it's happening everywhere in the same way (no center)
This collaboration with @minutephysics was my best effort to explain this, but it still seems to break brains on the regular.
One key thing to note is that the Universe may be infinite and expanding anyway. No boundaries, no "size," but still expanding.
What that looks like to us is that really distant galaxies are moving away from us (more distant, moving away faster). But that's just what it would look like from ANYWHERE in a universe that's expanding the same way in all directions, at all points.

Aliens should never be the first hypothesis. And no amount of "I saw a weird thing" or "something looks funny on the radar" is evidence for "someone from an alien civilization travelled across light years totally undetected just to buzz around weirdly in our atmosphere for a bit"
Hypotheses to try before aliens:
* balloons
* drones
* hallucinations due to stress & hypoxia
* instrumental glitches
* various kinds of accidents & debris
* experimental aircraft made by humans
* dunno, look, people make stuff up sometimes
* combinations of all of the above

SpaceX just launched 60 new satellites, which have been spotted as a chain of bright lights across the sky. As more are launched and orbits change, this could be a very big problem for ground-based astronomy. Musk’s offhand “they can’t be seen at night” is not true or reassuring.

Note: When they move to higher altitude (& disperse), they’ll catch sunlight longer into the night, though they’ll also be farther so should be a bit dimmer
I’m not an observer (I do theory), so I don’t have a feel for how bad this is going to be. But a ton of the astronomers and astrophotographers I follow on here are VERY concerned that if all 12,000 of these things go up, the consequences could be drastic.

Basically, yes. It's not an affirmative defense but it will be an argument they make in their briefs, based on the evidence that comes out during discovery or affidavits that get filed

That language is more signaling than legal effect though

This was already addressed mid-thread. You do realize filing lawsuits costs money to the court, yes?

Not getting paid != going into the hole paying the court costs

There are a few options. Provide evidence he wasn't there or X wasn't there, or depose X and challenge X's credibility (history of lying, etc), or provide evidence X is lying (emails, texts, etc), or get on the stand to say "that's false" and pray

They're too dim to realize ppl find out about the GFMs *because* they were shared on Twitter

First-and-10 used to be a running down in the NFL. Whether you have Todd Gurley or Le'Veon Bell, it's no longer intelligent. Yet teams are still calling runs at a rate they were 20 yrs ago. Teams should call more passes, regardless of their RB's salary: sharpfootballanalysis.com/blog/2018/lack…
Teams haven't learned their lesson over the last 20 yrs. Passing on first-and-10 has become substantially more successful than rushing. In part because of rule changes & in part because teams are more adept at calling pass plays which deliver more consistency with a higher floor.
