Last week the Supreme Court rejected @CommerceGov’s effort to add a citizenship question to the Census after internal emails to Sec. Ross revealed lies about their motivation.

More emails have surfaced showing Ross also met with a major white nationalist and Holocaust denier— 1/
The emails from Chuck Johnson, a white nationalist, conspiracy theorist, fake news purveyor, and Holocaust denier, went through Sec. Wilbur Ross' official and personal email accounts.

I'm following up with Sec. Ross to demand details about the meeting(s) and communications. 2/
The emails were obtained by @DemocracyFwd via FOIA; reporting by @alexnazaryan of @YahooNews confirmed that at least one meeting between Johnson and Wilbur Ross took place. We don't know yet where it happened, who was present, or what they discussed. 3/ news.yahoo.com/why-did-rightw…
We know from their emails that Johnson requested two meetings with Ross, one of which he said regarded a "national security matter."

We don't know what they discussed electronically or in person, or how many times they met. The answers may be on Ross' personal email account. 4/
It doesn't touch on Wilbur Ross, but white nationalist Chuck Johnson also bragged in these emails to Ross that he would be in DC "speaking before about 30 congressmen on tech issues." I have no idea who they were, but suspect their constituents would like to know. 5/
Why did Wilbur Ross agree to a meeting with a prominent white nationalist and Holocaust denier?

How many times did they meet, and where? What did they discuss?

The time has come for the House of Representatives to open an impeachment inquiry into the conduct of President Trump.
Endorsing such a course is not easy, and I do not do so lightly, but I believe that the President has left Congress no other option.

When I came to Congress I swore an oath ‘to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.’
President Trump has shown utter contempt for the Constitution from the moment he took office, but we are now faced with evidence of actions that strongly resemble high crimes and misdemeanors.

Dr. Wilson was deeply concerned about the rapid rate of species loss largely due to the destruction of habitats. He had an idea; that we create a system of wildlife corridors to protect habitats and strengthen the genetic stock of threatened species. 3/

The House is about to vote on the Americans With Preexisting Conditions Act, a bill offered by my colleagues @RepAnnieKuster @RepJoeCourtney and me, which does exactly what it says.

After Trump and Congressional Republicans failed to repeal the Affordable Care Act, they started trying to sabotage the law.

As part of that effort, Trump and HHS started using waivers to let states out of health care protections required by the ACA. 2/ vox.com/policy-and-pol…
A key provision of the Affordable Care Act banned insurers from discriminating against people with preexisting conditions, including denial of coverage and charging more, which could make insurance too expensive to afford. These waivers could undo that. 3/ kff.org/health-reform/…

The decennial census hasn't asked about citizenship status since 1950. The Trump admin claimed they needed the question to enforce the VRA, but three lower courts found that was a deceptive pretext. Plus, we already have citizenship estimates from the voluntary census ACS survey
Millions of people would likely be undercounted if the citizenship question is on the census. That alone would deprive urban areas & communities of color of their rightful representation & federal funding, shifting it to rural whites. But it gets far worse from there

Last night, the @CommerceGov said it would add a citizenship question to the #2020Census. In theory, it’s about getting an accurate count for purposes of the Voting Rights Act. In reality, it’s a racist xenophobic move with severe long-term consequences. commerce.gov/sites/commerce…
The census is an incredibly important tool that touches so many aspects of American lives. It’s the foundational data for everything from voting rights for black people, median earnings for women versus men, fertility rates, and more.
