Incredible, and quite moving, to read the final issue of the Walking Dead. You've got to hand it to Kirkman. In a comics industry that makes it almost functionally impossible for something to be surprising, he did something completely unexpected.
You always got the impression with him, despite this massive multimedia empire coming out of it, that the comics came first. And you got the impression with the ending, that the people with a pull list came above those who'd read about it in the press.
I know that hurts comic shop owners. I get that. But you have to admire his commitment to making sure that story was always a surprise.
Been getting that comic monthly for well over a decade. I feel really well served and, on a couple of occasions, he absolutely obliterated me with it. I'll miss it.
