Trump begins his speech on his "environmental leadership" by talking about the "incredible, big, beautiful crowds" that attended his July 4 event despite "heavy" rain.
Trump says his administration has "talented people that know environment."
Trump is arguing that the Obama administration hurt the environment by losing manufacturing production to countries with environmental standards worse than those in the US. He uses the words "war," "punishing Americans," and "radical."
Trump says it'd be "unthinkable" if you said three years ago that 160 million people could soon be working. No.
Trump claims the Green New Deal would cost the US "nearly $100 trillion." That's a number from a conservative organization -- $93 trillion -- which makes a bunch of questionable assumptions and whose president says it'd be better to use $50 trillion to $90 trillion.
Lots of experts say the Green New Deal is, at present, so broad and vague that you can't do a good cost analysis.
Trump is touting some of his administration's environment-related investments and initiatives. Touting its investments in Florida, he says that lots of people don't know about the problem of red tide, but when you do know about it, you know it's trouble.
(The owner of a bait and tackle company has been up speaking, and he is speaking a lot, because "I got a big mouth," though he says "when you want me to shut up, I will," and then does, but then comes back and says "TRUMP 2020.")
Shep Smith's Fox show left the speech after the "TRUMP 2020."
Trump says that forest management is "a word that people didn't understand last year," until he started talking about it.
Trump says California first "scoffed" at him but then admitted "he's right." That is not what happened. California and others scoffed at his suggestion that fires are strictly about bad management and not about climate change, and at the way he talked about the management.
Trump introduces Interior Secretary David Bernhardt as the man "very responsible for our tremendous success, Salute to America."
In this environmental speech, Trump is leaving most of the statistics and policy talk to his senior officials, who he's inviting up to speak. Now Energy Secretary Rick Perry: "He knows more about energy than anybody."
