1/ As I prepare to be a father in a few short months, the importance of building a culture that allows employees to truly balance work and home have been top of mind.
2/ Founders must be intentional about the culture they create. Do you want to build the Valley’s typical frat culture that churns and burns? Or do you want to create a thoughtful culture that values retention and long-term investment in its employees?
3/ Inclusion and diversity should be a top priority for every founder, but not just focused on gender, sexual orientation, or race. Your culture should accommodate employees’ needs throughout every stage of their lives.
4/ Whether it’s flexible working hours, a lesser obsession with in-office facetime, quality benefits, or simply planning team outings in advance and at a decent hour – these efforts can speak volumes and show that you’re empathetic toward those juggling parenthood and work.
