I reread “J’accuse” yesterday. What an astonishing document. What deep resonance it has for our time.
It made me think about a lot of things, not least being this exceptional piece by @anneapplebaum:

The question is: Who is the Alfred Dreyfus of our time?

The answer: Some indistinct hybrid of a child separated from her parents and Peter Strzok or Lisa Page.

It is partly the indistinct nature of today’s Dreyfus that prevents us fully understanding our situation.
