This is a hugely under-appreciated issue for any no deal, since it would effectively mean a UK government, propped up by @duponline, legislating to effectively suspend the Good Frirday Agreement. /2

The stump speech has made it to the dispatch box.

So I was going to wait with this one. But events are moving fast. The whole Brexit debacle aside, it is entirely possible a Tory leadership contest is on the way.

And you thought Gove was bad. I mean he is, he's pure evil. But still. Brace yourselves.
I was chatting with a few folks tonight about the possibility of Johnson vs Corbyn. My main concern was, and is, the "lesser Trump" narrative. Ken Clarke pretty much exemplifies it here. If Johnson does fight a GE, expect to see a lot of this.

Of course, this plays into Johnson's public perception - the bumbling buffoon. It is widely known that Johnson intentionally plays this up. So far, he's had success with it. But combined with the lesser Trump narrative, it could be extremely dangerous.

Who told the BBC? (I notice that John Redwood seemed pleased to see Rogers go.) On 3 January 2017, Rogers resigned. Was he forced? What on earth had Rogers done? He had told Ministers, CONFIDENTIALLY, that a UK-EU trade deal might take 10 years to materialise.(Btw, he was right.)
Ministers insisted a deal could be done within 2 years. Well, they certainly got that wrong! Nicholas MacPherson, Civil Servant Mandarin, now a Crossbench Peer, said at the time [Rogers'] departure marked a "wilful" and "total destruction" of EU expertise within Whitehall.

Under Tony Blair, New Labour passed five migration-related bills between 1997 and 2007—that’s more than in any other policy area. Each one was about making it harder for refugees and immigrants to live here.
In 2000, Labour removed benefits from asylum seekers and instead gave them vouchers, which could only be spent on what the government deemed “essential”.

@KateHoeyMP 2. Meaning if we weren’t in the EU we could fish anywhere? Er… no. We tried that in the 70s and lost the cod wars.

Being in the EU = access to European waters which is where we catch most of the fish we actually eat and where fish are abundant.
