For Congress to be effective in investigating an uncooperative Executive Branch, it can level up its Constitutional powers.

The Judiciary Committee essentially told the Court: "hey, we need stuff because we're looking at impeaching Trump."
🔹That's pretty much all it takes to open an impeachment inquiry investigation.

More formally, the Judiciary Committee petitioned the court for info, stating "because it is 'investigating whether to recommend articles of impeachment' against the president."
"Investigating whether to recommend articles of impeachment = Impeachment inquiry."
So Professor @tribelaw was right, this is the real deal: an impeachment inquiry.
Impeachment inquiry levels up Congressional powers, but Congress needs to •use• them: obtain documents, enforce subpoenas, etc. That's where we come in.
We need to ensure Judiciary uses the Congressional powers, keeps moving forward, has televised public hearings, and ultimately recommends articles of impeachment to the House.

The House can choose to prosecute Trump in the Senate by voting to impeach.
🔹If the majority vote to impeach, then Trump is impeached.
🔹Then Trump can be prosecuted and convicted in the Senate.
