1. Support (financial& time) for a team is a two way street. Sorry @SoundersFC & @TimbersFC your "We're just following orders." routine is a hallmark of fascism. You CHOOSE to uphold a fascist policy which equates being against fascism to white supremacy terror and hate groups
2. If you act like a fascist, use fascist talking points of false equivalence between people defending human rights and dignity to people who advocate killing minorities you too must be consider an enabler of fascism and that goes against your community of supporters.
3. The worst @MLS would do in response to @TimbersFC and @SoundersFC would be a fine. MLS would kick them out of the league. They all make the bulk of their money from their communities showing up so they should just pay the damn fine & stand up for the cities they represent.
4. If a "club" (let's be real here they are franchises not independent clubs) can't represent the pro-human rights values of the populace and community which supports them that community needs to withdraw its support until that changes.
5. People do not watch MLS because it's the best soccer/football in the world, they started watching because the "clubs" were their own, they felt some connection on a personal level to them because they REPRESENTED THEM not Phil Anschultz far-right political agenda.
6. MLS is fine with their owners engaging in REAL political activities many in @timbersarmy @WeAreECS @GorillaFC & other supporters largely oppose from Kraft & Kroenke's (& other owners) spending millions supporting Trump to Anschutz backing racist & anti-LGBTIQ+ candidates.
7. So the idea that this ban is about a "political" symbol itself is extremely dishonest.The Iron Front symbol is no more political than a Christian Cross. It symbolizes a human rights value, being against hate and fascism. Only people who would complain about that are fascists.
8. The same talking point of "some fans complained" was scripted at MLS headquarters and is most likely a lie. The league does NOT make large scale policy on the basis of a few fan complaints. Never has in its history. This came from the top.
9. Supporting MLS now means supporting a league which: a) lies to its supporters, b) strong arms its local front offices into peddling alt-right talking points equating people against fascism to hate groups like Patriot Prayer & Proud Boys c) Approved an anti-LGBTIQ+ sponsor.
10. There is plenty of other soccer to support. Much of it right under our noses in the form of local leagues and if you're looking for higher quality the TV remote is not that far away. There are lines which should never be crossed. MLS crossed them and must rescind the ban.
