/ A few weeks ago, we asked ya’ll to send in your stories of a time you were conned, swindled or scammed.

Here’s what we learned from the nearly 200 of you who responded:
/ After reading your emails, listening to your voice memos and talking to you on the phone, we realized a key factor that connected all of your stories: shame.
/ Many of you felt so isolated in that shame that we were the first people with whom you shared your story.
/ Some of you felt like you needed to share your story to find closure.
/ We included many more of your voices on our latest episode, in which an expert explains why that shame you feel actually helps the con artist thrive.
