Before the RWA conference a few weeks ago, a tweeted about part of the history of black romance and how black writers were received at RWA. Today, I want to share a little more history of black romance 1/
Can I first say that @SandraEKitt is a freaking queen!!! Here’s the fist book of hers that I read featuring black characters 2/
Did you know that same year 1984 she wrote All Good Things which was a hardback from Doubleday. That’s right @SandraEKitt wrote 2 books with black characters in 1984 🙌🏾👏🏾👑
I celebrate Sandra Kurt’s accomplishments but not all black romance writers were given a chance to tell their stories by traditional publishers in the 80s. 4/
The early 90s was a frustrating time for black romance writers so we did what we always do. Make our own! I present to you. Odyssey Books! @SandraEKitt and @Francis_Ray published in 1992 and 1991. They don’t leave my house 🤷🏾‍♀️
Sandra Kitt and Francis Ray weren’t the only black romance writers doing their own thing in the 90s. Here’s Layle Giusto’s Wind across Kylarmi published in 1992 6/( I think this is 6)
Recognize the first person who gave Layle a quote? Yep! That’s @rochellealers. Layle’s book was published in 1992 7/
In 1990 Margie Walker published Love Signals 8/
Black romance writers have been self published, traditionally published & small press published for a long time y’all. 9/

Naomi was very clear about being in possible danger re: what was written of her.

I spoke out for her but I was increasingly alarmed by some in this SECURITY community calling her a drama queen but then turning around and crying foul when they felt unsafe or uncomfortable.
If she was taken into custody because of what was written of her in the past then that is exactly what I was saying.

Some delighted in calling her out.

They didn't spend a night in a Chinese jail cell though did they?

i know there’s are a lot of people who are skeptical of demons and spirits. but I would strongly advise you to stay far away from ouija boards. I learned this the hard way as a child
so a few weeks ago I tweeted this about my aunt who lived in New Orleans. Even though she was family she was mean as hell and overall a very toxic person to be around. She would beat me and my cousins alot as children and she would always curse at us for no reason.
my aunt was into some weird shit. she owned an antique shop in New Orleans & she had a living space that was right under it. she would collected skulls and candles and set them up all around her house. My grandma thought she was heavy into witchcraft and didn’t want me over there

Ive wanted to do an assessment of the document that @JFREJNYC put out on anti-Semitism a few months ago but I hadn't had the chance to read it in its entirety. I recently finally got to it and want to share some of my thoughts with you.
For context, it's important to note that @JFREJNYC is one of the few organizations Tamika Mallory and Linda Sarsour have deemed kosher enough to work with -- in contrast to the @ADL_National one of the largest and oldest civil rights organizations in the country.
