Hi friends. This is a common troll tactic. The idea that refusing to directly engage them is cowardice, when really I am simply displaying their rhetorical approach for my followers to demonstrate methods for response.
You do not owe trolls anything. You can screenshot & talk about them to your friends & followers or retweet with comment & not directly respond to them. You get to do whatever you want. What THEY want is to insult you & fight with you.
Also, for my followers, when I share about trolling like this, I am NOT asking you all to sink to their level of rhetoric & engagement. This is much different than any “collect your cousins” tweet where I ask white folks to educate each other.
Trolls are looking to rile, bait, upset, do harm. We can mock them, ignore them, explain to our followers/friends the errors/hatefulness of their logic, but direct engagement is not going to lead to a change of heart.
What I will not do is stop talking about why this behavior is a problem, especially when it comes from people with not real names or images, who could be anyone. I am very clear about who I am, what I stand for & what I believe here.
Anyone who cannot do that but wants to start fights anyway, with no sign of sincerity or evidence of expertise, is purely a troll. And trolls don’t get to determine how I operate in this space.
Please note that after repeatedly saying I was a coward for not responding & trying to bait me with body shame, this troll has made their account private where they can talk about me without being seen. It’s funny how it works out like that so often. 😒
