My company right now is drowning in business growth opportunities that need my attention, but I spent all day today trying to figure out how my company is going to be able to fill out EEO-1 component 2 data.
This is easily the most ridiculous reporting requirement I have ever seen out of the government for run-of-the-mill companies like mine. The old EEO-1 was bad enough, once a year having to play the racial nose counting game
President Obama added, and the useless Alex Acosta let stand, a 2-order-of-magnitude increase in the granularity of the data required. Now Joe is not only a black male, but he is a black male in salary band 36000-38500 working at this particular location in one of ten jobs
To make matters worse, we have to go back and do one report for 2017 and then another report for 2018. AND because the DOL chose the U. of Chicago as a contractor (weird), absolutely none of our data from our past reports migrates so we have to start from scratch
Add to that the fact that the telephone customer support from the contractor is awful. The person I talked to knew literally nothing about any aspect of the report. She couldn't answer the most basic questions.
I got so frustrated that at one point I looked up the penalties for non-compliance, which really did not look that bad. But eventually I started to see the possibility to create a custom css file based on a set of custom reports and queries of our payroll system.
Many hours more work left to go. I would love to have a TV show where we bring all the Democratic Presidential candidates on, have them log into the system, and have them enter all the data for their staff from 2017
