Great clip from my old station! Gotta say a lot of black and brown folks are going to watch this and marvel at the politeness and patience these officers are showing, even as the mother argues with them about something deadly serious: the threat of committing a mass shooting...
She even acknowledges that they have a gun, and it's just all cool and calm. You watch this and think of all the OTT police interactions w/ black citizens, over a young man mowing the lawn, a boy playing with a toy gun, a man buying a toy gun in Walmart, a guy selling loosies...
And you realize: this is how police treat people they're not automatically, knee-jerk afraid of.

Look where hiring was weaker: hotels and restaurants where you often find lower income immigrant workers-and in probably the largest source of working class jobs: retail, where Trump's tariffs are driving up prices & quashing hiring. He's killing the economy and faking the data.

Not getting into the middle of this because I like both Nina and Neera, but @neeratanden is also a woman of color. This apparently endless 2016 fight is happening bc many Democrats still resent those like Ms Sarandon who said Trump > Clinton and/or voted for Putin's back up plan.
It may not be the most productive thing in the world, but it's hardly surprising. And for the people who refuse to accept the 2016 primary results to demand that Democrats get over the fact that Russia's agitprop was DESIGNED to produce non-votes or Stein votes makes no sense.

The assumption that Corbyn has had some kind of meeting and encouraged attacks on the black and brown people in Johnson’s cabinet shows just how racist some of you are and you can’t even see it. We have more than a few reasons to be alarmed at these appointments.
Javid has said that if our parents were not born here we are at risk of having our citizenship stripped. Even if we’ve never even been to their country of origin. Even if we have absolutely no family there or if there’s a language barrier ourglobalfuture.com/2019/02/javids…

Companies have learned to say the right thing on Twitter, and sometimes do fantastically colorful ad campaigns. But until they commit to creating culture internally where their diverse talent feels like they can be seen or heard, it's hollow.
Like I said at #CannesLions, it blows my mind that we have figured out how to get to the moon. There are robots who have feelings. But somehow, companies can't seem to figure out how to retain staff of color. "It's so hard." IS IT?!? Is it really?
All this thought leadership and expertise and most Fortune 10 and 25 companies are still failing horribly when it comes to how monochromatic people who are making key decisions are. Cute ads, but how is your entire executive team so pale?

Y’all I’m a Black woman from Atlanta, #Georgia. I’ve had a miscarriage in this state. I grew up on the poverty line. I’ve had an abortion. I think this #BoycottGeorgia call is bullshit, and it pushes birthing folks deeper to the margins in the name of what? rage? That’s stupid.
Now y’all know capitalism is a predatory system. It self insulates, meaning folks w/the most capital are protected from tumult. Like boycotts.

Guess who isn’t protected? Working class families. Mothers & children. Esp folks of color. In Atl, that very much means Black birthers.
My city is filled w/Black working class ppl. The health of the film industry very much affects the food, rideshare, folks who do childcare, and other related markets. Can you guess who’s all up & through them industries?

Black. Working class. Birthing folks.

💭 Most shocking moment so far in the @Hulk 2008 is @LivTyler dating the dad from Modern Family.

Also as much as I like Edward Norton I’m just picturing @MarkRuffalo in my head and this movie is even better.
Putting @Hulk on pause to talk Iron Man.

1. I forgot how we used to talk about Marvel movies being “grounded” or “realistic” especially when it comes to color pallete and portrayal of characters or events.

The colors in Black Panther and Thor 3 have come a long way since 2008.
