Well this is fun. We're back to watching the front door of No.10 talking about general elections again.
Bet it all goes 'nothing has changed' again.
Loud boos as Johnson comes out, barely audible.
Quite striking actually. Makes it seem like he's Chemical Ali, pretending everything fine while it falls apart around him.
"I am encouraged by the progress we are making. The chances of a deal are rising." Is there anyone on the face of the earth who believes this?
Laying out the expected message: MPs trying to "cancel the referendum" puts Brussels off a vote.
"There are no circumstances in which I will ask Brussels to delay."
In other words: He'll hold an election if MPs support it.
And then says he doesn't ant an election. So in other words, he's threatening an election.
"Let's get Brexit done by October 31st." And with that he goes in. Really quite poor performance.
What was the point of that? The message was clearly delivered to Tory MPs. So why do it outside of No.10?
I suppose to set up the next statement where he announces an election. But Christ alive, the tedium of it. We are right back in the world of pointless prime ministerial statements outside No.10 again.
