Fed. judge denies Ohio's motion to dismiss a lawsuit challenging Ohio policy forbidding trans people from changing the sex listed on their birth certificates.

Judge holds plaintiffs have pleaded a due process violation. assets.documentcloud.org/documents/6403…
At the moment, Ohio is one of only two states (Tennessee is the other; Kansas was one until recently) who refuse to allow trans folk to change their birth certificates to match their gender identities.
The court found Ohio's justification that birth certificates of trans people could not be changed in the name of historical accuracy unpersuasive because the state regularly changes birth certs for adopted children and in other contexts (court orders).
The "historical accuracy" justification also comes up in cases where states refuse to put two same-sex parents on birth certificates—again, even though the states routinely allow changes in parents names on birth certs for adopted children.

Just garbage.
