It’s weird that the same people who recognize that unwarranted traffic stops can create dangerous situations for cops and others think that there would be no consequences to sending cops door to door to enforce a gun confiscation plan.
If you ever passed such a law (ignoring constitutional issue), it’s true that an overwhelming majority of American gun owners would comply (though still unclear how you would know who owns those guns). But those people are also unlikely to use their guns for nefarious purposes.
In other words, you would mostly be taking guns away from lawful gun owners who pose little risk to others. The people who are a risk to others would likely not comply. In other words, you would impose huge costs on the rights of millions of innocent Americans w little benefit.
