Me : Good comedians tend to push a narrative to the edge and unfortunately sometimes over giving you that "oh my" / shock moment. Sayle is best when he is tearing up the concepts and values of capitalism. The "Wolverhampton" line was brilliant, a gem.

Hmmm ... Ecosia.org - "we use our profits to plant trees" - what a good idea. Well, that has just become my new search engine. Lazy web, Is there a social media alternative to Facebook with similar goals? I don't mind giving data if it has some useful purpose.
i.e. I don't use Facebook (other than to post nonsense) because I don't trust it. I read its goal to "create social value" to mean "replace Gov with us, as we know best" ... which I don't agree with. Hence a social media company with a real positive social value would be welcome.
I do like the tree counter ... that is something Google should do and at scale

A visible means of some environmental repair i.e. 10% of ad revenues would be a start. It's not enough to be carbon neutral and use renewable energy. Needs to go further, much further.

Me : Hmmm, you want to be the person who teaches how to play guitar after reading a book but without ever playing?
X : Gosh, you make it sound daft when you say it like that.
Me : Well, that's because trying to teach without experience is daft. At best, you should get a group together to explore, talk about and discuss. Don't start trying to teach until you have experience yourself.
X : What's the fastest way of building that experience.
Me : Practice.
X : There must be a short cut?
Me : A time machine but I'm out of Zeiton 7 at the moment ... you're going to have to take the long path.
X : There is no shortcut?
Me : To practice? No.

This. It's about time Gov's united to at the very least make Facebook's life very difficult. It has crossed the line too many times ->

Me : Strip away from the leadership principles of Amazon those principles that are universal (i.e. doctrine) and what you're left with are very individualistic beliefs (i.e. values) that probably reflect Amazon's origins ...
i.e. Amazon is a very "libertarian" organisation focused on commmerce. Do the same with Facebook and you end up with an organisation that had wider ambitions of creating "social value" i.e. highly political with no definition of what that is ...

Speaking in my official capacity as a former smoker: fuck off with the shaming in the comments. She just won three Emmys, she's probably pleasantly drunk, and she made one of the great TV shows of the year -- a story that just happens to focus on appetites, shame, and hypocrisy.
The prim and censorious "editorial coughing" that happens during plays, starting the instant a character so much as takes a cigarette out, has migrated to social media, and it's every bit as irritating here.
I dislike cigarette smoke in real life, but I love looking at it in TV shows and movies. There's a moment in On the Waterfront where Marlon Brando follows Eva Marie Saint to the other side of a bar, and they go under a smoke cloud so solid you worry they'll hit their heads on it.
