Sensitive Times staffers gonna be sensitive. Even when the Times admits a screw-up, readers are at fault for not accepting the apology with sufficient grace. With great power comes great responsibility. Some seem reticent to grapple with the downsides of that responsibility.
You're in the majors dude. You're playing ball in MSG, and if you dog it and dribble the ball off your foot on a key position, you're getting booed. If you can't suffer the indignity of being called out for your failure when you play on the biggest stage, you've got problems.
People will both accept the apology and continue to be angry. This is a reflection of how important they view the work of your newspaper. Reflect on that importance a little more rather than going to Twitter and implying people are being meanies.
