Scenes from my $4 round of golf.

Pretty as heck. Now, if the guy in that last pic could advance the ball more than 25 yards, we’d be getting somewhere.

I may need some beer at the turn.
Passed the slow dude. Replenished essential electrolytes. Away on the back.

If I break 40, beer is on me at the clubhouse.
There’s really no way to hit a draw around that corner. Smart play is to hit a nice iron.

So, naturally, I’m hitting driver.
Okay, so I ended up in the left rough.

It is not important whether or not I hit somebody’s backyard shed to achieve that outcome.
Scrambled home in five.

And here we go again. Second time is the charm. Draw don’t fail me now.
Okay, that time I looked like I knew what I was doing... which is good since my blistering fireball rolled to a stop within earshot of this rather leisurely paced foursome.
Well, that’s daunting.

Whatcha think? Is my ball going for a swim?
Ye of little faith!

Stiffed it to about 15 feet.

Okay, even I am shocked by that.
Okay, decent tee shot on a ridiculous dogleg par five.

I’ve only played here once.

I’m 210 yards out. If memory serves, the line is about where that X is.

Do I start it out of bounds left and fade it back or draw it around that corner?

Note: I am skilled at neither of those.
I went with the fade.

Sort of pulled it off. Faded it around the trees. Found the first cut. Chipped on. Two putts. Painless five.

But now we’re on to this 270-yard bastard.

I’m gonna grip it and rip it. May even videotape it.

And if I pull it off, I may even post it.
As promised.

It was gripped. And it was ripped.

Well, I didn’t really get all of it but still chipped on, two-putted and made a par.
Okay, this is the whole shooting match.

I’m sitting at +2. If I even bogey the 18th, I break 40 on the back nine - which would be all kinds of good for me.

Two-tier green. 135 to the stick. Into the wind.

All I need is to put it on the dance floor.
Shit.
Turned over on it and yanked it left.

But......

Bwahahhahaha!

On the gravel path pin high with an opening.

Gotta play it off the rocks since relief would leave me no shot.

What are a few clubhead scratches?
Chipped on.

Sidehill twenty-footer to within a foot.

Tapped in for bogey.

39.

Now THAT was fun. Let’s not even talk about my 46 on the front.

Besides, the 19th hole awaits.

Thanks for riding along. You folks are my good luck charm.
p.s. that was a really good nine for me... and after my round with Johnny’s Friend #1 in Van and Nick last week, I needed to get that bad mojo out of my system.

Just what the doctor ordered.
