Hey.

I have an idea for improving quality of candidates in federal elections:

anyone who withholds negative information about a candidate for federal office is complicit in undermining our national security.

Most importantly, anyone who withholds any knowledge of the existence of information during a PRIMARY election campaign to enable a compromised candidate to be put forward to a general election is acting in the interests of our enemies.

Anyone who pushes forward candidates known to be compromised is working to increase the probability of our government being helmed by those who are compromised - and that is acting against the interest of our nation.

That, independent of a direct connection to any foreign adversary, is clearly treason, as it exposes that official to external control by ANY and ALL current or future adversary.

So, maybe we need a new word to describe acts of treason that are not limited to interactions with foes in ongoing engagements, but that enable ALL of our adversaries to weaponize our own leaders against our interests.

Allowing compromised individuals to run for or hold any elected office or position of trust - and NOT notifying the public, under penalty of perjury - of the existence of compromising information during primary elections, should be a felony with punishment on par w/treason...

up to life in prison, though without the death penalty, but with termination of civic life, precluding them from any and all future involvement in the political process - as should anyone involved in any other willful crimes against the state in the same spectrum.
