Since we all know that building luxury apartments raises rents, my super cheap and simple housing plan is simply to bomb all luxury apartments, which will make rents go down.

Note: This is a sarcastic tweet, meant to make fun of the people who claim that building market-rate housing (which they always label "luxury" housing even if the units are tiny and crappy) will raise rents and cause gentrification.

Sadly my plan actually would lower rents. First, rents in the bombed-out neighborhoods would go down. Then new construction would happen to replace bombed-out buildings, adding supply to the market and bringing rents down more.
