Quick rant about 2019 Apple.

Love the AirPods. LOVE them. Probably favorite Apple product of the past 5 years. But...
…I’ve had 3 pairs break in different ways so far. All related to no longer charging and/or syncing. …I’d like to believe I’m fairly saavy about such things. OBVIOUSLY I Google all I can to try to troubleshoot the issue myself...
…and the latest rabbit hole offers no fix for my problem — my right one simply will no longer sync with any device. Nor be recognized by the case. Again, I’ve already tried every rabbit hole internet thing I can. For hours...
…and so I should just take them in to be fixed. But Apple’s site offers no easy way to do this for AirPods. Instead, they make you go down more rabbit holes of FAQs which are comically surface level for pro users...
…there’s no easy way to just book an appointment to bring them in — and even if there was, it wouldn’t help anyway, my right one is just busted...
…once upon a time, I had a EarBud (OG) issue and I took them into an Apple Store without an appointment and they just gave me a new pair. I was not expecting that, but it still stands out in my head as being a great experience...
…obviously, AirPods are *far* more expensive, and I wouldn’t think that I’d walk out with a new free pair. Then again, they can look at my account and see that I’ve bought 4+ pairs...
…but my point is that I wouldn’t even dream to walk into an Apple Store these days to get this resolved. I know they’re not going to solve the issue and will ask me to make an appointment, which also won’t solve the issue in a timely manner...
…I should probably just buy another new pair. It’s the quickest path. But again, they’re expensive. AND this pair happens to be custom engraved. So instead, I’m just ranting on Twitter just in case someone has some solution I have not thought of yet...
…you all are typically better than an FAQ on Apple’s website. And certainly a trip to the Apple Store circa 2019.
I should add: obvious first-world problem aside, I just hate that I can no longer even consider walking into an Apple Store off the street with the expectation that my issue will be resolved in a timely manner. That seems like a pretty fundamental issue.
